What We Believe

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has its spiritual roots in the Reformation begun by John Calvin of Switzerland and refined by John Knox of Scotland. We are a protestant denomination democratically organized to embrace the faith common to all Christians.
We believe in the following things:

• The absolute sovereignty and grace of God,
• Scripture is a uniquely inspiring means of learning about God and our selves,
• God, the creator of all that is, wants to be in relationship with us, and has especially chosen to be known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit – Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer.
• The working out of our faith, while best done in community, is between God and ourselves – no human can judge it,
• There are human flaws that are beyond mere “self help” – only God can finally perfect us, and
• God calls each person to ministry, as we use our gifts to help spread the gospel in work and deed.
