About Us
What We Believe
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has its spiritual roots in the Reformation begun by John Calvin of Switzerland and refined by John Knox of Scotland. We are a protestant denomination democratically organized to embrace the faith common to all Christians.
We believe in the following things:
- The absolute sovereignty and grace of God,
- Scripture is a uniquely inspiring means of learning about God and our selves,
- God, the creator of all that is, wants to be in relationship with us, and has especially chosen to be known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit – Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer.
- The working out of our faith, while best done in community, is between God and ourselves – no human can judge it,
- There are human flaws that are beyond mere “self help” – only God can finally perfect us, and
- God calls each person to ministry, as we use our gifts to help spread the gospel in work and deed.
